Close... And the Power of Living In Eternity

She’s all of 8-years old, filling out a questionnaire in which she is asked, “If you could be granted one wish, what would it be?” And she replies, “That our family and the Olson family could live together FOREVER!” And the veil between this moment and eternity, so thin my breath catches with the closeness of it.

Like that moment when I stood visiting with our neighbor, Chris, at the end of her driveway, (in our village in Germany). She tilted her head and suggested, “You should plan to live here forever. Then we can grow old together.”

And it’s this embracing of the moment, the one we’re in right now. You reading this post. Your opportunity to speak blessing into a life. The smile you give away today. The one that acknowledges someone's personhood. All the moments in which we relish another’s presence, complete with all the quirks and nuances of their story. How that His Love closes the gaps leaving us with "just" these moments that stack up into forever.

Each moment following close on the heels of the next...

...grace-filled, brave strides that whisper bold, made for eternity.

And how forever is kind of a long time. As in, it will take 1,000 lifetimes to live out our forever and grow old together. No, let me rephrase… it will take eternity.

Oh Jesus! That all my moments today will be filled with You... filtered through an eternal perspective!
