Still Basking in Africa

So, the title says it all. Last Friday we left in the morning and traveled about 6 (or 7?) hours to Zambia to go on a Safari. Except for the torturous ride there which left me crying, praying, and vomiting for the rest of the evening, (I'm such a wimp when it comes to pain!), the weekend was incredible in every way. Of course, Saturday was my birthday... so how amazing is it that I spent my birthday with my cool family driving around in a Park that allowed us to be within a few strides of zebras, elephants, hippos, lions... and an enormous crocodile!! amazing.

Now, here's the Cliff Notes version of the last several days... (more details later):

Monday was relax, pack, get ready for our trip home on Tuesday. And Tuesday morning LeRoy and Bob went to the Ethiopian Airlines office to clarify our flight plans. Which revealed that we wouldn't be boarding a plane until Sunday. Which means that we've relaxed, swam in the pool, got haircuts (well Israel and I anyway), been tested for malaria only to discover that it's some blood infection and I'm now taking antibiotics, gone hiking up Mount Bunda (at least LeRoy, Bob, and all the kidlets), and well, just generally hanging out... in Africa! I mean, really, how awesome is that! And all the added moments with Amy, Bob, and the girls... well, I can't think of a more pleasant place to be "stranded."

*Praise: Amy's been recuperating from malaria all week and is definitely closer to total health restored than she was at the beginning of the week. (Such a huge relief!)

*Praise: The antibiotics I'm taking are kicking in and I, too, feel much better than a couple of days ago.

*Prayer Request: Please pray for our friends, the Taylor Family, whose 7-year old son had a liver transplant (at Seattle Children's Hospital), about a month ago and is now experiencing complications.

Thank you for praying for us. For being our friends. We love you and appreciate you more than you know.

  2. Blood infection? That sounds scary. Praying that you're on the mend. :)
