Book Reviews!!

Now, about that part I was discussing earlier about my passion for reading...

It seems that I am consistently reading the "latest and greatest." So I've decided to let you all in on whatever it is that I am reading at the time, (I'm usually reading 5-7 books at a time...).

Okay, first of all... BIG drum roll please...

RONNA SNYDER'S book "Hot Flashes From Heaven" was released this month!!! Yahoo! Although Ronna's book addresses the issues that surround menopause, her style is such that no matter what stage of life you're in, readers will be encouraged and inspired to celebrate life while listening to God's "hot flashes." I ordered a few copies -- one for myself, one as a gift, and another one for... Well, now this is where you come in. (I'm experimenting.) I'll send the other copy to the first person who responds to this blog and mentions your interest in her book. Like a contest! (smile.) (Make sure you include your name and mailing address!) You can find her book in a bookstore near you or at Amazon.com. Make sure you check out her website: www.ronnasnyder.com!

Another drum roll... This is for an upcoming release...

Isaiah Jordan Olson's short stories are going to "press" in a few short weeks. Written in his original fountain pen, "calligraphic," handwriting, Isaiah's stories about medieval heroes conquering evil forces will inspire readers to raise the moral standard and live out their God-given passions. The stories are short and you can order one or as many as you like. We'll let you know more details as soon as they come available.

Our family is in our fourth month of reading through the Proverbs: the chapter number coinciding with the day. Wow!! I highly recommend this whether you are single, married without kidlets, or you already have arrows in your quiver! You know that cliche that people use, "Man! I sure wish my kids were born with an instruction manual!" They were. So were you. Of course, this does not discount the plethora of resources out there that expound on subjects discussed in the Proverbs. I'm merely recommending some phenomenal reading that could change your life! (Okay, I have to tell you this. The fifth day of each month always seems to evoke a bout of giggling in our house. If you're curious as to why, read it for yourself to find out.)

I just finished reading "So You're Thinking About Homeschooling" by Lisa Whelchel. You know, some books cause you to feel like you're sitting across from the author in a quaint cafe discussing life. So refreshing!

I'm almost finished with "Team Secrets of the Navy SEALS." Why, by the time I've finished reading this book, I'll be able to implement SEAL tactics with all the innovation of homeschooling, the wisdom of Proverbs, the suspense and thrill of medieval adventures, along with the wit, charm, and courage of a menopausal woman!!! Is it just me or does life keep getting more and more and more... fun?! By the way, this SEALS book... sooooo good!! I'll keep you posted on ways the principles are being implemented in our house -- and how that's going.

Alright, my family is ready to head home. We're at the Resource Center on Base using their computers. Oh, here's a conversation LeRoy and I had this week:

LeRoy called from work, "Hey! I have some good news and some bad news."

"Okay." I giggled. What would you do?

"Well, I went over to talk to the people at TKS about why our phones are dead." We haven't had phone service for most of this week. (Happy Birthday, Aunt Kathy!! We weren't able to call you...!)

"Cool. And?"

"And... we can now get internet service at our house!!"

"That's awesome! Thank You, Jesus!"

"But they don't know why we don't have telephone service anymore."

"Hm."

So there we are. Hopefully we'll have internet in the next 24 hours. Wouldn't it be so cool to have internet and a land line? We think so. But we are counting it all joy in the interim as we are in continual awe of this amazing season we're living in! Please be patient with us as we strive, (and struggle at times), to maintain communication and connectedness.

Everyday that I'm here ruins me a little more. I don't know that I'll ever be able to leave this place... more about that later.

All my love to you,
MAKE SURE YOU PICK UP A COPY OF "HOT FLASHES FROM HEAVEN" -- AND DON'T FORGET TO EMAIL AND MENTION RONNA'S BOOK TO WIN!

Sharon
